I have acquired Singha beer ready for the weekend ;D , still haven't found Cat's Whiskers though. I would recommend Maplemoon by Joseph Holt a Manchester brewery had some last night and was very nice indeedy. I'm going to get some more this week if I can. Got some more of the Boston Lager too Keep 'em coming chaps and chapesses I like doing this sort of research. ;D P.S. Saw another one for Acksaw Hen's Tooth not tried it yet.

Holts must have improved lots since i lived in manchester biccy as their mild and best were the worst brews around. Only drank as I was a student and the crescent pub in Salford had them at 59p and 79p a pint each (1991).
Couls ay something about the dodgy pubs I used to drink in as well.
Hmmm quick look at the website they appreared to have improved somewhat since 1991
No cats whiskers at my sainsbury's doh

Well worth a try Stib not sure who would stock it. I got it from my local offy which has a large selection of real ales and foreign beers they were doing a promotion on Holts.

Well I tried the Singha beer and have to be honest and say I didin't like it, too lagery. The Boston Lager was much better. Maybe as Stib suggests it's a beer best drunk by a pool in warmer climbs.

Ahhhhhh fine evening of beer on friday, nearly spoilt by railway incompetance (2hrs to go 30 miles ) I even indulged in the fine cheese stand. Fine pint of St peters Mild (was thirsty by that point) but I think best beer of the 6-7 (all but the mild half pints) was something called Felstar Black Lager brewed specially for the festival not 3 miles from where I work. 5% ish deep black colour and hoppy taste slightly fizzy but not bad for it. no resemblance to current "lager" Only shame was that the special irish bar was pretty much drunk dry by the friday. Moment of the festival was walking past the huge q straight through the Camra members entrance ;D

Ooo I like special Irish. I was looking forward to that as I have found Ireland is worse for Beer than this side of the pond. Guiness and Kilkenny everywhere in dublin and belfast I went to. I do like my guiness but a bit of variety is nice. There was one lonely looking keg left on friday of the 10 different beers they started with. going to volunteer for next year, so I'll get some tasting in early. www.cambridgebeerfestival.com/Cambs2006_beerlist.pdfNeed to stop at the supermarket for some tea tonight so will pick up a couple of bottles of badger.
