Right i have decided i should put something down, though im not sure i really have any fav films, but i would say these are good. Ill have to think of some that haven't been said yet...
Jaws
'We're gonna need a bigger boat', what else really needs to be said. This scared the crap out of me when i first saw it and it didn't help that the day after i went canoeing on a big reservior. At one point i was floating in the middle all on my own, i was in a canadian canoe sitting right on the back with me legs over the edge. I have a very over active imagination, you work it out!
Duel
Steven Spielbergs(sp) first ever film, although it was a straight to tv thing. It about a guy being chased in his (crappy) car by a mysterious lorry driver(which you never see). The lorry is really old and rusty but somehow keeps up with him. Its really good lots of atmosphere and tension.
He-Man
Yes the original Dalph Lundren classic. i do realise that is incredably dated and crap, but me and the bro used to rent this out almost everytime we used to go up to see our nan.
The Spongebob Squarepants Movie
Well, it was an inevitable choice really. The seemless interwoven child and blatent adult humour is amazing.

Top 5 films. Hmmmm.... well I like different films like Amelie mentioned earlier. here's 5 "People Films", where special effects (tho I LOVE 'EM) are not the pre-requisite for enjoyment: 1 - Brazil, Directed by Terry Gilliam, a slant on 1984. 2 - Tampopo, AJapenese film about making noodle soup! 3 - Big Night, Directed by Stanley Tucci, a sort of food movie. There's a scene toward the end that lasts 2minutes, not cut aways, NO SPEECH! it's amazing! 4 - Local Hero, A 1980's British film, slightly dated now but worth a watch. 5 - Spirited away, Japanese animation.
there are SOOO Many films. We need more threads; Sci-fi, Comedy, Thriller etc.....

I think i've tried everywhere and just can't get it on dvd, it was re-released on dvd in the 90's but no-one seems to have any. Vhs is no issue but i really want a copy on dvd......

Both excellent films. Favourite characters have to be Ray in Fist and "Amano Jaku of the Jujinkai" ;D
