Download is normally a tad higher during the day when its quieter. Drops down a bit at peak times.

What do any of the figures mean? I'm clueless. The maximum download speed for a normal ADSLmax line is around 8000 kb/s and about 450 Kb/s for uploads. That's basically the raw speed from your router to the local BT exchange. ADSL2+ and cable connections can go up to over 20Mb/s for downloading and 3Mb/s for uploading. On top of that you have to account for how good your cabling is to the exchange, how good your ISP's connection to the Internet is, how busy the Internet is and how fast the server you are talking to is. So the SpeedTest numbers reflect the true performance of your setup to a specific server. I heard someone saying that a Live game typically needs something like 40-50Kb/s for each person. If you are acting as host, that will go against your download speed. Which sounds OK for 8Mb broadband but you then have to take into account the true speed (two lots of ISPs, etc) The latency is the time is takes the data to there. Basic rule is the further away somewhere is, the longer it takes. I reckon lack of bandwidth is the true killer of Live games. As you run out of spare bandwidth, the latency figure shoots up quickly (Queuing Theory). I remember something along the lines of 90% utilisation equates to a 10 fold increase in latency. And yes I am an IT geek.

And in english? Does that mean the speeds I have are any good?

The speeds you have Charmed are pretty much fine yes. That speed test site is pretty dodgy sometime and will not give you the true reading of your line.
But the one you recorded there was , 2.8mbps download and .350kbps upload which is fine.
The latency / ping is pretty higher than normal but like i said that since isnt totally true and if you do a couple of test you will probably see a difference in your results.
When i first played online in the BETA testing days all we had was 512kbps download and 256kbps upload and that is still regarded as the minimum needed to play online so your connection is fine.
