What's the difference? My Mum mumbled about wanting one for her birthday - I'm gonna assume the advertising campaign featuring various old farts has worked wonders and she wants brain training My 2 kids have had a DS - and my son broke the screen on his earlier this year - so we got him a DS lite for his b-day. The main differences are positive and i would say: - DS Lite - has a much brighter screen in terms of the back/front light. - DS Lite - It's lighter and slightly more compact - DS Lite - It feels more durable. As a consequence, my daughter now refuses to play on her DS and fights for access to her brothers DS Lite. Needless to say she's getting a DS lite for christmas Dunno if you've noticed though that there is a DS-i planned. It's out in Japan....

beware of the dodgy fakes from asian websites though! buy uk models only unless you're completely sure you can trust your importer!
i understand where your daughter is coming from rogue - the original DS was hideous! much prefer the lite.

The Nintendo DSi is due for release early 2009 with a price tag of £199. For that there is an inbuilt camera for photo and video messaging. I would stick with the DS lite for parents as probably wont get the use out of all the new features coming up.
My kids did have a DS and a DS lite and shared the 2 between them. That did'nt last long and have now got 2 DS lites. The brighter screen is a big seller for my kids with the DS lite.

I agree, DS Lite is the better option, it's what I have and it much easier to see than the old DS my son had.
