I would certainly recommend an XTE2005, and if you are able to site your router close to the master socket youmay gain some extra BB speed!
One plus for me is it looks better than having the filter hanging out the master socket, and it could also help on you BB speed and SN ratios too, tho. there is debate as ever to how much ofan increase it adds.
Took me 5 mins to fit, its Plug an Play at £14
Thought I would let you all know about it.
I was told about this by the Plus Net (My ISP) mod's.

Maxx,
Where did you buy yours from? Did you invest in a new RJ11 cable as well?
Did you see any improvement?

Got it from Broadbandbuyer (.co.uk)
You can look it up on ADSL nation site too.
Only second day of use, I am trying to get a better line attenuation / snr margin ,as a reduction in target SNR (and also (possibly) switching Interleaving on) - the sync speed I lose from the interleaving may be more than offset by the increase in sync you will get from the reduction in SNR margin- only mention this so your aware of what my aim is
I am a long long way from the exchange, and working an my best conection. I had interleaving swithched off to improve my connection 'ping' for gaming, but may have lost some sync because of a higher SNR (signal noise ration)
In answer to your question, have I seen any improvement..no, however reading other reviews people have seen improvements ither is speed or SNR, and thats why I mention it here. I have not changed my RJ 11, the one I have is better than the freebies, but not the best I must admit.
My next step is to turn interleaving back on. (this is on as standard on all (?)ISP, and you normally have to ask for it to be turned off)
Its worth checking your router stats, as there may be some easy wins for a better sync speed.
Sorry for waffling on!
I needed a new adsl filter as mine was 5 years old, and the difference in price between the two is minimal, and it looks neater which for me was a big reason in buying it.

Moving house soon so think this seems like an option I'll go for. Once everything has settled after the move I'll report back.

If nothing else it tidys the master socket up, not having the filter hanging out.
Its not deliverd any noticable improvement in connection for me, if I turn interleaving back on i reduce my all important ping in gaming, but can increase my connection speed...arrrr...perks of living in the sticks....

Been three days up and running.
First post I stated no improvement, I have been monitioring it daily / recording my router stats and below My conclusion to date,
My Line attenuaton has dropped (thats good) a few Db's which has increased my data rate = a better connection.
My download speed has increased by 50-80 kbs on average.

I've just got one of these.
I got an immediate 1/2 meg improvement.
This morning it went up to a sync speed of 5150kbps. Since then it's gone back to 4300Kbps. Still an improvement of 800Kbps.
I will keep you posted.

My initial improvement was not that great, but my line speed is/was not the great!
Before fitting it was 950kbs pretty solid, afterwards running at 1546kbs I was chufed with, esp. for the price of the littlebox. If it can maintain current rate, hats off.
Be interesting at where your speed finally settles down at, to see if the pro-rata between our lines.
