I'm on the level ("Heat" I believe) where you're stuck in the barn after just using the Javelin missiles to take out the four enemy tanks. In front of me is a large open field that I have to cross but it leaves me rather exposed (no sniggering), even with smoke grenades and airstrikes, To the right is a pretty crappy barn where Johnny Foreigner comes storming through. Is this an infinite respawn point or do I have to make a runner?
I've tried reasoning with these people and even influencing their political process through a leafleting campaign but that seems more like a long-term solution..

pmsl!! Funnier and funnier!! I found that when I got stuck on veteran levels, that the walkthroughs on You Tube are quite helpful for just showing a good route through. there is a website too called NextGenWalkthroughs, and they offer some good advice which might be easier to watch than explain.

I was stuck for ages on this level.
Tip - use you airstikes - lots (well you have 6).
Put your first airstrike at the bottom of the field. Then make a dash for that little barn on right (enemies will indeed continue to spawn until you hit a certain point). Keep running on the right - heading towards a field with lots of dead cows towards the building there.
Don't go into the building - go round to the right handside of it - take any enemies that you can see easily and then put another airstrike just on the otherside of the road (think there's a water tower or big aerial there iirc).
Then leg it - from here on in this is your priorty - attempt the one minute mile whilst shooting/airstriking anything that moves. Enemies will continue to respawn until you hit checkpoints. The only other advice I can give is to bear left when you hit the road - enter the big building that was part of the mission earlier (via the basement always worked well for me), then on to the petrol station.
Also this level is sort of time dependent - so if you don't get a checkpoint (iirc there's 2 or 3 checkpoints) you're not running quickly enough

I am stuck on a Veteran level as well. I don't remember the name of it - soz. It's the one where you have to get into the underground missile bunker and disable the nukes flying round the globe. I am right at the end where a 5 minute timer starts and you have to get to the doors that open really slowly. I can sometimes, by sheer luck, get to the doors but literally with only 1-2 mins left on the clock. By the time the doors open and I get in there I either die or the timer runs out.
And then there's the carrying Captain Price one.... that's a nightmare.
Every now and then I have a quick try on these and just get frustrated with all of the die, respawn, retry stuff. I really hope they put Co-op modes in CoD6.
Btw anyone looked at the COD5 video on marketplace.... doesn't look too promising for treyarch again.... all Golly-wood again.

Again this one is time dependent - if you don't have enough time left, you won't get a checkpoint. IIRC it should go something like this. 1st checkpoint - as you go down the stairs - approx 7 mins remaining 2nd checkpoint - the otherside of the massive room full of crate - approx 5.30-6mins remaining 3rd checkpoint - as the big doors open - approx 3mins 4th checkpoint - where you plant C4 - approx 1min 30 secs When you get to the end of the second checkpoint - I went right - had a grenade launcher equipped and threw lots of grenades andlay prone a lot of the time

Might have a shufty around the crated room to see if there are some. Perhaps I am spending too much time laying prone - but I was doing that go right and duck approach. Thanks for the tips.

Noob tube is only necessary for the corridors section on checkpoint 2. After that it's all about grenades and bullet accuracy. Enemies usually appear in the same place. Don't forget flash/stun grenades are also useful

And then there's the carrying Captain Price one.... that's a nightmare. I presume your talking about "One Shot One Kill" where you have to hold off te enemy at the ferris wheel. Well there is a sneaky way to do this ;D Plant your claymores all around the area infront of the Captain and lob your C4 on a couple of the cars that surround the central bit where the helicopter lands. Right.. now there are two ticket booths I think and you need to get inside the one to the left of the guy you drop off on the hill as if you are looking back towards the swimming pool area. Then you have to lay down as far back into the booth as you can get with your head facing the entrance (as attached crude sketch) Basically it's then a case of sitting it out waiting for the enemy to blow themselves up with your claymores. Keep an eye out for incoming grenades which you must pick up and throw out of the open doorway. Once the helicopter arrives blow your C4 and leg it to pick up the Captain. Once you have him the bullets fired at you don't seem to be as effective, then quickly move to the chopper.

Guys, I can totally recommend having a quick look at the veteran vidoes. One might consider it cheating, but they're not playing the game for you, but it's really handy for tips, I was really stuck for ages on all the levels you mention, played them at least 20 times each, after looking on NextGenWalkthroughs video, they had some helpful hints and routes too

there is a website too called NextGenWalkthroughs, and they offer some good advice which might be easier to watch than explain. Sounds like sage advice, Starbuck, I think I'll go for that option. I wonder if you are the final Cylon sleeper agent; after all, in BSG Razor the hybrid warns that you'll lead the humans to destruction. All this happened once and will happen again and again and again. Sounds like my repeated attempts on CoD4 veteran! Don't tell me if you know who the fourth Cylon is, though, I haven't seen season4 yet. Sorry, I'm rambling and jumping around a lot.
