from what I know of the technology and being interested in aircraft, yes it is possible. depending on what sortie the pilot was flying i.e patrolling airspace , and with the current terrorist threat , he would have all threat detection equipment on and Ecm (electronic counter measures - radar jammers etc) for that reason.
