I went to see The Red Hot Chilli Peppers a couple of months ago and they were rockin'. They mostly played songs from their new album Stadium Arcadium, but they also did some tracks off previous albums as well, which was cool. They were supported by 2 bands, Dirty Pretty Things and !!!. I can't say much for Dirty Pretty Things, as I could bearly understand what was being sung. As for !!! (also known as chk chk chk), they were awesome! They do this weird dance, funk, punk, rock fusion, kind of thing and it sounds really good (I have since brought both of their albums). By the end of it I was singing my head off and jumping about all over the place, sometimes at the same time!
So that was my first concert experience and other than the idiots throwing bottles of water about, it was a most enjoyable evening.
What was yours like?

Idiots throwing water!! - count yourself lucky young fella in my day back in the golden age of Reading Festival it was bottles of piss!!!!!! Well actually that was before my time, but an old mate of mine used to go in the seventies and eighties and back then it was bottles of piss. By the time I started going to Reading in the early nineties it had become more civilised and people just pissed in the middle of a 60,000 strong crowd - its like the parting of the seas, one minute you're elbow to elbow and can't move a muscle, suddenly some drunken idiot gets his 'old man' out and starts peeing and the crowds just move like one to get away from the dirty beggar who's unloading 10 pints of watery lager all over the place. Anyway......enough talk of urine. My first concert experience, well who remembers Val Doonican... No really and seriously my first 'gig' was a bit of a life changing exerience. It was around 1991-92 - I was bored with the whole rave scene (it didn't seem to make any sense unless you were completely out of your head on if you know what I mean ) and I was getting into rock, indie and alternative music. Well my first gig was a band called Living Colour, it was amazing. I got drunk, moshed, crowd surfed, got a band t-shirt and nicked one of the massive posters from the foyer - brilliant - music (and my missus) changed my life and I've never looked back. The Wonderstuff soon followed as did the Manics and Radiohead and then it was off to Reading for 5 years running and a veritable orgy of live music. Sorry am I going on....

My first concert experience was the Freddie Mercury tribute concert at Wembley stadium in 1992
It was bloody fantastic ;D
I got to see a whole load of legendary artists and groups, such as Guns'n'roses, Metalica, David Bowie, Annie Lennox, George Micheal, Extreme and Elton John.
And of course, the 3 remaining members of Queen.

My first concert was Then Jericho at the Sheffield City Hall. I cannot remember much about the gig, I was quite young in '89 but my lasting memory is that of the stage going dark, lights in the ceiling resembling stars and the ballad Sugar Box being played. Still my favourite song on the album.

The first Concert I went to see was The Monsters of rock in 1983 (i think it was that year ... so long ago now) When Whitesnake headlined with Cosy powell on drums I have the original entrance ticket somewhere. Another nearly first concert which links to a prevoius post is ...... 9th August 1986 at Knebworth i saw what was probably the last ever live concert by Queen with Freddie Mercury. And if anyone has the vinyl lp of the "Live magic" on the inside cover it has a photo of the Queen helicopter flying over Knebworth and if you look closely at the 100,000 crowd i'm standing next to the bloke in red!

my first Concert was Monsters of Rock at Donnington, I cannot remember the year but it was the year Iron Maidon headlined for the last time with Bruce Dickinson before he went solo and yes there was the odd bottle of suspect liquid in them being thrown around.
Mind you since I've started doing festival work I have been to more gigs this year than I can count. I have got to say the best Concert I have been to though was to see Slayer In 1993 in Manchester now that was loud.

My mate got his bike pinched and had to ride with me home, luckily for him I had no bird in tow then

it was the first and last Donnington I went to only because I could not afford the tickets after that year. the one image that stays in my mind is watching 30+ people trying to make a human pyramid ( i think thats spelt right )

My first concert was when my cousin took me to see the UFO Mechanix tour at the Apollo in Manchester. Must have been around 1981. Been to plenty since then.
