I'm a happy xbox L!VE user and really have no problems with paying for a online account as long as it's justified with content and options... From what i've seen on the free 'Playstation Network' you can download PS3 game demos and movie trailers(In 1080p) all for free. The download content is pretty limited at the moment but gives you a good idea of what it's about. When i was on you could pay to download 'Lemmings' as part of their live arcade type stuff plus a geat 'Tekken' game which my friend bought for £6.99(Real money, no silly confusing points!). I read a while back that the PS3 will not have a friends list or it would only be on some games. This is not the case as there is a friends list option on the PS3's dashboard... PLUS a Clan list! (Looks like we need to catch up!) Also the web browsing works extremely well for a console and must admit i was very impressed in how quickly web pages load up! After seeing all this and playing a very solid 40 player match of 'Fall of man' with voice support i was left wondering what i pay for on my Gold account!!! The only real difference i can make out is that we get a pointless 'Gamerscore' and we can leave voice messages for people!

One of my mates picked up a PS3 on the weekend and has had nothing but praise for it.... doing the Xbox comparison (vs PS3), like you said Mr Original, the PS3 has most of the features that the Xbox has, and the bonus web-browsing feature is pretty sweet... with the cherry on top being it's all free! (but then paying over £400 for a console - you'd probably be pissed if you had to fork out an extra £40 for online) The only thing I wish MS would "borrow" from the PS3 - is to bring out one of the nifty "motion-sensor" controllers... man, that would make games a lot more fun, especially driving games!

anymore info on PS3? are they breaking down like 360's? are they more reliable? do you have one consistent gamer tag or a new GT for every game? did the 40 players really work that smoothly? is your friend on a fast broadband or is it in the realms of any broadband? would be interesting to get more comparisons

I'm ashamed to admit that I have been seduced by the dark side. On an impulse I bought a PS3. None of my friends have one but a few are thinking about it so there's more chance of playing online with it against people I have known in person for years. I think it's an amzazing bit of kit but overall at the moment I would say the Xbox360 is better, but only at the moment. Obviously there are far more games for the 360 and some real crackers but the likes of Rainbow 6 Vegas are coming to the PS3. The online play at the moment is nowhere near as good as Xbox Live but again later this year they are doing PS Home or something which sounds like it'll bring the PS3 upto Xbox Live standards for creating communities. I was very surprised at the media side of the PS3, being able to stream music and video from a PC is cool. Being able to use any bluetooth headset for in game voice is cool to. With my 360 I had a Media Center PC and used the 360 as a Media Center extender and it was great. I thought this was one area were the PS3 would fall short but it definitely doesn't. Anyway like I said I believe the 360 is still the best overall but has it peaked? The PS3 isn't as far behind as I thought and it just seems to have tons of potential that I really think it will overtake the 360. I may be proved wrong and I love my 360 so hopefully Microsoft will keep trying to improve what they offer.
