Turned on live last night and 28 folk on friends list, 22 of them on GTA4...man I feel like a weirdo coz I don't like it. Must say the pressure to get it is affecting me way more than normal so may pick it up in a couple of weeks. Also the things I didn't like with the last three such as the poor targeting, dodgy collision detection, bad car handling, constantly being a criminal etc etc, look like they have been fixed and most of my mates who have it say it is a vast improvement(apart from the criminal thing).
Would you BB's say the games a keeper? Rockstar games normally lose value really quickly and the fact that the game retails at only £35 indicates I could pick this up cheap in a couple of month. At the moment however I seen a copy go for £59 on ebay last night.

Not a keeper as such - unless the online is amazing, but certainly will keep you entertained and busy for next 6 months

On GTA4, if you listen to the Vladivostok-channel, this gem is from there: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QueEvzGFzQMStrangely addictive... About 4 mins in, check out the flag on the elephant...

Has anyone sat down in front of the telly in the bedsit and watched the 'Galactic Rangers' (or something similar), quite a few mick-takes of Halo in there, it had me giggling!!
As for whether it's worth getting? Well the last one I played of the GTA series was GTA3 on my PC, I got bored of it less than a 3rd of the way in as the missions seemed a tad repetitive. This new improved version is mighty impressive in terms of the detail in the game world, Liberty City is a truly living, breathing place with so much going on and so much to do. As for keeping me hooked, I think it will for a good while mainly because the main character and the people he interacts with have a much more positive and permanent place in the game. You don't tend to feel just like a random interacting with other randoms. Quality lines and voice acting really make this believable, so yes I would say bag yourself a copy and pretend it's Mass Effect without aliens, space ships and faster than light travel. Oh yeah, it's huuuuuuuuge, definitely the biggest gaming world I've encountered. Not tried multiplayer yet so can't really comment on that (sorry to all that have invited me thus far - have been to busy in missions).
