Morning all, good games of Vegas and COD last thanks to all who joined in. For all those excited about GTA being posted or in stock and perhaps getting it early. I get MVC (a trade magazine for games industry) at work and there's an article saying that the industry is confident nobody is going to break the street date. Will be interesting to see if anyone does...

Morning all, Sorry to hear your news Biscitt. I'm sure there are ways to make it have 3 red lights. It certainly doesnt sound like a cable error. I shall investigate further.

Oh no...did it go after you left COD last night I noticed you went onto Vegas but I went off to bed after that. Bummer but hey Spring is in the air - you'll have to use the time productively and go out and investigate some nice pubs for the light summer evenings! ;D

Aye Unkal when I was playing COD the screen went funny lots of black dots all over it. When I went off COD I thought I'd try a different game so put Vegas in and that was worse stripes and dots.
I then tried an arcade game same thing so I rebooted the 360 and the red light came on with a system error displayed on screen E 74 does that mean anything to anyone?

E74: There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement (see error 0102) Got this info from this website: forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=484726they have more info there if that's of any help Biscitt

Mmm it seems that its harder to make your 360 RROD then you would think! Found this in a GameSpot forum however. Just call microsoft and tell them that you got the 3 red lights and they will take it for repairs. My friend's console was getting one red light and he called them and said that he got rrod, and they didn't even ask any questions, they just sent him a box and in a couple weeks he got a refurbished one back and a free month of live.
That's also suggested by this guy: sogamer.wordpress.com/2007/09/01/360rrod/
How To Use The Red Ring Extended Warranty To Your Benefit Now this is indeed sneaky but we here at SOGamer understand that we don't have Microsoft reading our blog, instead we have you, the consumer so here's a helpful tip. If you at first call Microsoft about an issue not rrod related like the disc not being read and they say it's "out of warranty", wait two days and call them again only this time say that you have the red ring of death or "three flashing red lights and the system doesn't turn on". Since Microsoft is being extra generous to people who have a rrod system, it only makes sense that if you're have any of the following issues with your machine and can't get it replaced under the normal 1 year warranty, that you also try getting it under the 3 year extended warranty.Issues Microsoft Can Fix Under This Sneakiness Are:
* System is scratching games * System is not reading discs at all * System thinks Xbox 360 game disc is really a DVD * System thinks Xbox 360 game disc is not put into a Xbox 360 system * System freezes or locks up

Thanks Shadow and Kid and UNKAL for the links and info.
Not sure I have an alternative cable to try, how often do cables break down of their own accord? I never move it or plug and unplug the .. erm .. plug.
If I don't get a satisfactory response from microsoft I'll just say I now have 3 reds and see what happens.

No worries was good to meet some more friendly gamers, I added Mayhem to my friends list as well as your good self so should become regular gaming buddies.
